Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- In a shallow dish, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. In another dish, beat the eggs. Dip each chicken breast first in the egg, then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture. Place the coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and spoon the marinara sauce over each piece of chicken, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from the oven, let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Chef's Tips:
• For a crispier crust, you can lightly spray the breaded chicken with cooking oil before baking.
• Avoid overcooking the chicken to keep it juicy; use a meat thermometer to check doneness.
• Serve with a side of pasta or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to prevent foodborne illness.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking and consume within 3 days.
